Kiryat Yovel is a neighborhood of some 65,000 souls in southwest Jerusalem that was establish in the year 1954. Its inhabitants represent a range of socio-economic strata and cultural affiliations, from the secular to the traditional to the strictly religious, living side by side. The community is thus a microcosm of Israeli society at large.

Recent years have shown a trend towards social awakening on the part of neighborhood organizations spearheaded by young communities such as "Halom", "Horesh", "Katzir" and others. These organizations are working in cooperation with the "Yovelim" Community Council for the benefit of inhabitants living at high economic risk.

As of now we are the first and only artistic group working within the neighborhood to encourage cooperation between the various existing bodies, under the aegis of the Community Council.
